HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Hello out there!  I'm still here, no I haven't fallen off the face of the earth!

I wanted to wish you all a happy day and evening.  I hope you get to spend it with people you love.  I've been just working in my little shop, kinda same as usual here.  It is a most gorgeous day today and I would love to be playing in the dirt outside getting ready for spring.  I am taking Sat. and Mon. (President's Day) off and will attend a composting seminar at the LA County Arboretum this weekend.

I made a succulent heart wreath last weekend at the California Cactus and Succulent Center.  I'm happy with how it turned out.  Now I pray all those little cuttings LIVE!  It was time consuming but fun to do with a bunch of people who enjoy plants like I do.  Measures about 14" x 12".

Today I got a vase of lilies and irises from a secret admirer that was delivered by Fedex.  This is how they arrived, unopened buds.  Now, who could it be?  I really don't know who it could be so it must really be a secret.  I also got a little chocolate, a card and an invite to dinner.

I've only been making these ruffle scarves lately for presents and oh, yeah I made a matching scarf and hat for a friend as a Xmas gift but was in a rush and didn't take a photo of it.  The yarn is Red Heart Sashay.  They are so easy to make, mindless really.  I can still crochet at the end of the day even though I might be tired!

Look there are still strawberries trying to grow right now!

Take care and until next time....thanks for stopping by!

What I'm Up To!

Hello!

My computer is finally fixed, yay.  We replaced the motherboard and I've only been up and running with it for a couple days.  Yes, I wasn't computer-less, but like I've said before, the front computer is for shipping and day to day operations for the shop and I didn't like going very many places on the web in case I got a virus or other problem.  Broken computer = No shipping = No $, simple as that.

It's time to upgrade/change my blog background but I started with making the font larger so it would be easier to read.

I finally got out my hook and started a project!  It's a simple scarf for a friend, late birthday gift or Christmas gift.  It takes me so long to complete projects that I thought I'd better start now.  I got 2 skeins of LB Jiffy in a perfect color to match denim.  I'm using a J hook and the pattern is called "Crumpled Stitch", alternating a sc and then dc, sc then dc... and the next row you sc into the previous row's dc and then a dc in the previous row's sc. 22 stitches wide.  It's a KISS project for me!  KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.  That is what I need right now to get back into crocheting.

Didn't feel so great yesterday so one of my customers brought me a "Get Well" bouquet this morning!

It's been a whirlwind summer with lots going on.  I'll be back to share it with you.
Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Happy Summer! Last of the Sherman Garden Pics

Hi!  I see my last post was, well....over a month ago!  Shame on me.  So much has happened since I posted last.  No time to blog lately :(.  Here are the remaining Sherman Garden pics from waaaaay back in May!

My back computer is still giving me problems.  It's a software issue.  So much for blaming it on the cricket leg, hee, hee.  Just not gonna shut the darn thing off for now.  It's when the computer is loading on start up that it decides it can't find some files and then freezes up.  I've run some utility programs and it hasn't handled the problem so it's just gonna have to stay turned on as a workaround until the real cause is found.

Meanwhile...I'm busy with running my shop and some other things I will post about soon.

The last pics are of shade plants.  Fuchsias, Ferns and Begonias to name a few.

Primroses!

Mom enjoying the Tuberous Begonias.   Have a lovely weekend!  I'll be back soon.

Sherman Garden Pix #2

Here are more pictures from Mother's Day.  Enjoy!
The Mother's spending the day together

The part of my family who lives in San Clemente-2 bros, mom and sister

If you live in a mild climate look what you can do with cacti and succulent plants.  The mass plantings make a really pretty landscape.  Remember, you can right click on any pictures to see them in more detail.

These cacti were massive!

Have a few more to pics of the Sherman Garden to share.  See ya!

A Cricket Leg?

Howdeeeeee,
Wanted to post really quick to let you know I have not fallen off the face of the earth!  It's been too long since I posted and wanted to day hi and that I'm doing well, thank-you.

My computer has been up and running for about a week and guess what?  My son found a cricket's leg that was on the motherboard and when that was removed and all the components (hardware) were checked and tested and found to be working fine it must have been that darn leg.  We figure the cricket could have been electrocuted when he was crawling around inside.  Originally when it was acting so weird, I opened up the case and used canned air to clean out the dust.  It wasn't too dusty since I had just done that back in January and while doing that I found a dead cricket at the bottom of the case.  Maybe that is where they got the term "computer bug", hee hee.

I was going to post a pic of a cricket, no not a dead one, but aren't you glad I didn't?

I went to Temecula yesterday to visit my friend and have a few photos of "chalk on the walk" drawings that I'll post soon.

I have to go shopping for a bathing suit now.  I hope the mirrors are kind.

Hope you're enjoying the beginning of SUMMER!!!!!

Be back soon!

Technical Difficulties!

My poor baby has owies!

Hi!  My computer, the one at the shop that I use for all things non-shipping, which includes my blogging and blog visiting has had issues for a few weeks.  It suddenly just freezes up and won't go anywhere.  Then it just decided to not bring up the screen at all and we thought it was the video card but that's not the problem. More diagnostics are being done by my sweet son who took it home to find a cure.  Meanwhile I did back-up, thank goodness, most all my files including pictures but I've been without a computer in the back and so haven't posted for awhile.  I decided to bring in my laptop so I could go online without using the front shipping computer.  I just need to get accustomed to using it along with my back up external drive that has the pics on it and then I'll finish posting the Sherman garden pics.  Such creatures of habit we are!  It's taking some getting used to since I don't have my regular picture program.

I went to Best Buy last night since I need to get a different cell phone and plan.  They advertise being impartial since they can sell you all the plans from all the carriers.  I also wanted to see and hold the phones for real since I've only been doing internet research.  What a pain.  I've been putting it off since I have 2 households going right now and I'm trying to keep expenses down.  I have an ancient cell phone and ancient plan that Verizon doesn't even offer anymore.  I went over my minutes last month and wow, it got expensive.  I don't have a landline at my new place and no internet.  So I wanna getta phone and plan that can connect me to the internet so I can hook it up to my laptop and TV.  Then I can be at home and browse; I can leave work on time and do my own stuff online at home instead of hanging out at my shop since it feels like I spend a gazillion hours there as it is.

Here's my current setup.  Better than nuthin'!  Gotta go.  Headed to Target.  I really just wanta go home.  I'll be back soon with the rest of the Sherman garden pics.  Take care!!!

Yarn Bombing Day 2012

What is it about yarn bombing that I like so much?  I'd say it's about taking the ordinary everyday objects and making them special by wrapping them up in yarn!  It's just downright fun, creative and sometimes, just what one needs- to make something silly or to laugh at the silly yarn bombed stuff.

International Yarn Bombing day is coming up quickly, it's June 9th.  I'd like to yarn bomb something again this year.  This is what I did last year.  But a flag on a car is normal.  Click to see last years post  I'll have to figure out what to do.  It would be fun to do a group project if only I had the time to join in or start one.  Work, work, work :( what is a gal to do?

I know, go have a piece of chocolate.  Yum...I'll burn it off at rehearsal tonite.  My dance show is this coming Sunday and we have rehearsals every night this week.  Yeah!  I get to exercise.  Good news, I've been on a reducing diet and my pants are noticeably looser today.  I promise I'll only have one pc of chocolate candy and not blow my diet!

It was nice having 3 days off.  I got out my sewing machine for the first time since the move and I had the Indy 500 on while I mended some clothes.  I love getting backlogged stuff like that done.  I needed to shorten the black skirt (costume) and had to do it from the waist otherwise the ruffle wouldn't be the same length as the others.  It's always a good thing to know how to sew when you are short like me; I need to hem almost everything.  The race was amazing.  I esp. liked the camera that is mounted in the car so you can see what the driver is seeing.  Technology at it's best!

Have a great week!
