Here Goes...

So what in the heck have I been up to?  Well, I moved out of my big house in Los Angeles and moved into a little Doll House close to my shop.  No, the house hasn't sold, it's not even listed yet.  Lotsa changes in my life these past (almost) 9 months.

You see, I searched for a place in June and July since the house was supposed to be on the market in June of last year and we were planning to move soon anyhow.  Then I find the house isn't gonna go on the market yet and to make a long story short, there has been so much disagreement (for some time) in our relationship in general not just about the renovation.

I got tired of the drama so on my birthday last year (August) I gave myself the perfect gift, one of peace and a serene environment!  I signed the rental agreement and then moved in slowly and slept there by mid September.  Moving is so darn disruptive to the flow of one's life and I'm still not totally settled in.  At least I can get organized now which is what I'm slowly doing but of course this place is soooo small that I can only fit what is really necessary; the rest is stored in the 1 car garage adjacent to the house.  It's been: unpack and repack boxes to store away for the time being.

Yes, I'm living alone for the first time in my entire life and it's weird!   I had to move out so I could have a calm organized space so I can get up everyday and go run my little business.  I can't have a pet where I am now but I will someday!  Having a pet would ease the total "ALONE-NESS" but I can understand the landlord's rules. There is no enclosed yard and the property has 5 homes on it.  It is way back off the street on a private drive and is so quiet and peaceful.

I'll leave you with a pic of my new place that I took before I moved in.  Now it has flowers in the front so I'll post an updated pic soon.

One more thing, when you live alone you find what you eat and what you don't (and it goes bad).  I eat my share of butter (hee, hee).

I'll post some pics of  last weekend's girls day out at the Huntington Garden soon.
       Have a fabulous weekend!

Springtime Fresh

Hey.....Blogger forced me into their new interface so I gotta get used to it.  I hope it works better, as I always had trouble with putting pictures on my blog.  I came here to do a test post today.

We had rain much of yesterday and we even had snow in the local mountains, too.  We're supposed to have 80 degree days next week so I bet the ski slopes are crazy busy this weekend.  Lovely day today, sunny, cool and fresh with a light breeze.  Gonna do some gardening when I close the shop this afternoon.

My friend Tracy is coming for a visit next weekend and we're going to a local public garden so I'll have some pics to show you of that visit.

Yup, this pic was easier to upload, yeah!

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend doing whatever you set your mind to!

HAVE A HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY

HOWDY!
If it weren't for holidays, I may never post anything!  It's not that I live the most boring life and don't have anything to post but that life has changed from what I originally was posting about...more on that soon.  It's raining cats and dogs out right now, yeah!  So Cal needs the water.  Sorry LA Marathoners that you have to run in the rain.  Who knows, maybe it'll blow away today and tomorrow it'll be the best air quality ever for running!

Crappy pic but it's  gold sequins edged in green ones

So, St. Patrick's Day, hmmm conjures up memories to wear green or else you'd get pinched.  I'm wearing green today even tho adults don't play that game too much but just in case any of my customers want to pinch me, I'm ready.  I got this tee last year on sale and finally get to wear it.  I have a wee bit of Irish in me and my mom would make corned beef and cabbage with boiled potatoes most every year.  Whole Foods has an Irish meal for their regular dinner buffet today so I plan to head over there meet a friend tonight.  That way I don't have leftovers, cooked cabbage smell in the house or a mess to clean up!

Some pics of "almost spring" from my garden...

Have a lovely "Green " day whatever you are doing and thanks for stopping by!

LEAP YEAR DAY!

Happy Birthday to those of you who only have one every 4 years!

A few weeks ago, I went out to Murrieta (1 1/2 hour drive) to visit my friend Tracy.  We decided to visit the Escondido Wine and Chocolate Festival.  It's only about a 30 min drive from her place.  We chose not to do the wine and chocolate tasting which cost 20 bucks since we found out that we both get hot flashes when we drink alcohol so we tasted the free samples of chocolate that were being given away.  YUM.  This was pre-Valentines day with small chocolatiers displaying their candy.  It was a fun day with perfect weather.

Before arriving at the festival we stopped at a gift shop called Canterbury Gardens and Gifts.  We had thought there was an actual garden but mostly it was a gift shop.  They had so many pretty items.  Eye candy for sure.

Then we stopped at a fabric shop called Yardage Town that reminded me of the fabric shops my mom and I went to when I was growing up.  It had that same smell and stairs that went to the "bargain" basement; the staff were nice and friendly.

This was their Valentine window display.  I wanted to find some fabric with strawberries on it but it was out of stock. Tracy bought some ivory silk fabric to cover the buttons on the WEDDING DRESS that she is making for her daughter's wedding coming up this July!!!!!  It's gonna be gorgeous.  She is so talented.  I could kick myself for not taking photos while I was visiting of some ballet costumes that she's made.  Professional tutu making and boning, things I've never attempted in sewing. So darn pretty.

We both ended up buying some hand made toffee by a small company in Carlsbad (north San Diego coast) called Toffee Box .  Yes, they do mail orders!  It is really delish.  I'm rationing it and having a little taste every day or two!

On our way back we stopped at none other than HOBBY LOBBY!  I've only heard about them but they were never out here in California.  So I finally got to see what they're all about.  I checked out the yarn section and just had to put my hands on the "I Love This Yarn"!  I didn't buy any since I have to finish what projects I've got and use up some of my stash like a good girl. WOW, it was a big store but we could only stay for a bit since Tracy's hubby was making us dinner and we didn't want to keep him waiting.  We have 3 stores here in So Cal now but none in Los Angeles County :(

Hope you're having a relaxing evening!  Thanks for visiting.

Award Thank You!

Lovestitch gave me this award, thanks!  I've hardly blogged at all lately so thanks for thinkin' of me.

1 Add the award to your blog
2 Thank the blogger who gave it to you
3 Mention 7 random things about yourself.
4 List the rules
5 Award to 15 bloggers
6 Inform each of those 15 by leaving a comment on their blog.
I can do all but 6 and 7 until I can make the time to do it.
The 7 random things are...hmmm, let's see:

I have always loved Valentine's day.  Not because it's for lovers and involves candy and flowers, two things I love but because it involves hearts.  I love most anything with hearts on 'em.

Most of my jewelry has hearts on them or are heart shaped.

Around Valentine's day is the only time I like red and pink together.

I could spend all day in a garden, mine or a public one.  Working in it or admiring it.

I haven't been on an airplane since 1999.

I work too many hours trying to live the American dream.

I'm still looking for that prince charming on his darn white horse to save me from working all the time, hee, hee ;)

Thanks for stopping by, have a lovely evening!
